Justin Starr is the Endowed Professor of Advanced Technology at the Community College of Allegheny County and President of High Tide Technologies, a leading provider of remote SCADA systems. He is committed to advancing career and technical education by connecting automation students with companies performing state-of-the-art work, helping hundreds gain industry experience and family-sustaining wages across the Pittsburgh region. Previously, he served as COO of Topanga Partners and CTO of RedZone Robotics. Justin earned his B.S. in Engineering Science from the University of Virginia and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Florida. He holds more than 15 U.S. patents, and is the author of two widely referenced books on robotics and infrastructure technologies. Outside of work, he enjoys beekeeping, restoring vintage electronics, and spending time with his wife and son.
