Dr. John Xavier Pereira served as the 20th PresIdent of the Canadian Pain Society for the past two years and chaired the National Congress on Pain in Canada’s capital. Previously, he was PresIdent of the Pain Society of Alberta and a founding Co-Chair of the Alberta Pain Strategy.
Dr. Pereira has delivered talks on chronic pain both nationally and internationally, including at the Mayo Clinic and the Centers for Disease Control, and has personally visited 74 pain centers worldwIde. He represented Western Canada on the committee of physicians who authored Canada’s National GuIdelines for the diagnosis and treatment of fibromyalgia. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the FibroFOCUS™ program.
As the physician lead of his team, Dr. Pereira was instrumental in winning the very first Health Quality Council of Alberta Patient Experience Award in pain management, highlighting his commitment to excellence in patient care.
