Bio
Francklin Rivas Echeverría holds a bachelor's in systems engineering (1993), a Master of Science in Control Engineering (1996), and a Doctorate in Applied Sciences (2000), all from Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela). He also earned a Law degree with honors (2017) from the same institution. In 2023, he completed a postgraduate program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Purdue University.
His work integrates machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence across various domains, including medicine, industry, energy, education, and finance. He is currently Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington and Chief Research Officer at Kauel Inc. (USA). He has held faculty positions at Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela), Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Chile), MIU City University Miami (USA), and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.
He has participated in research and development initiatives that connect academic institutions with the industry, including internationally funded collaborations. His work in this field has involved coordinating interdisciplinary teams and managing institutional partnerships. In parallel, he has held administrative roles within higher education.
He has authored over 300 publications, including journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers. He is co-author of 19 books and served as Associate Editor of the Elsevier journal ISA Transactions from 2020 to 2021. In addition, he has supervised more than 80 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral theses.
His recognitions include selection by Revista Gerente as one of Venezuela's 100 most successful managers in 2012, acknowledgments from Halliburton for contributions to oil technology in 2011 and 2013, and the Outstanding Professor Award from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in 2021. He was named IEEE Senior Member in 2022 and received the Bicentennial Distinction from Universidad de Los Andes in 2023. In 2024, he received the Magna Distinction from Universidad de El Salvador and the Visionary Award (Dubai).
