Dr. Sivakumaran Janakiraman is the Chief Operating Officer of Kovai Medical Center and Hospital Limited (KMCH), a leading 2000-bed corporate quaternary care hospital group in Coimbatore, Southern India. A seasoned healthcare administrator with over 33 years in the healthcare industry (and 44 years overall), Dr. Janakiraman possesses a deep understanding of hospital dynamics, operational workflows, and financial challenges. His expertise spans all administrative and operational functions.
Dr. Janakiraman has a proven track record of optimizing hospital operations, with a strong focus on inventory control. He has successfully implemented control systems in corporate hospitals, demonstrating expertise in streamlining stock and consumables. His skills include procuring equipment and consumables on favorable terms, effective vendor management, and optimizing stock requirements across various hospital stocking points. These efforts have consistently contributed to improved gross profit margins. He is dedicated to enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, optimizing resource allocation, and developing niche markets.
Academically, Dr. Janakiraman is a Gold Medalist from Bharathiar University in his MBA. He further holds a Doctorate in Management, a Master of Philosophy and a PG Diploma in Health and Management, among other qualifications. He has also shared his expertise as a part-time professor of Management for graduates and postgraduates of Nursing and Pharmacy.
His achievements at KMCH include spearheading digital transformation initiatives such as the introduction of Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), a Porter Management System, an AI-based Digital Medical Records System, Digital Radiology, Electronic Intensive Care Units (E-ICUs), and the Dozee Contactless Remote Patient Monitoring and Early Warning System. He has initiated 10 MW Solar palnt to generate green energy, thereby reducing power bill of the hospital by 60%
Dr. Janakiraman's contributions have been recognized with awards such as DJ Best Manager Award from Coimbatore Management Association in 2019, Healthcare Visionary Award from the Financial Express Group (2023), the Most Iconic Healthcare Leader (Global) from World Health & Wellness (2023), and the Forttuna Global Excellence Award for Best COO of the Year India (2024). He has also published numerous articles and research papers in leading journals.
