Dr. Mario Troisi is an accomplished Italian ophthalmologist whose career seamlessly integrates clinical excellence, and cutting-edge research. After graduating with honors in Medicine in Italy, he specialized in ophthalmology and pursued advanced fellowships and training programs in anterior segment surgery and corneal diseases across Europe and the USA. His clinical focus includes ocular surface disorders, corneal imaging, and minimally invasive anterior segment procedures.
Dr. Troisi is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to translational research in ophthalmology. He has introduced the application of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for the diagnosis of complex ocular surface infections and dry eye disease, enabling the identification of pathogens and microstructural abnormalities missed by standard diagnostic techniques. His work also includes innovative approaches to customized corneal collagen cross-linking protocols for keratoconus and the development of novel multi-acting tear substitutes aimed at restoring ocular surface homeostasis.
