Dr. Manish S. Bhatnagar is a distinguished Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and Endoscopist practicing in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with over three decades of experience. As one of the earliest qualified practitioners of Gastroenterology in the state, he has been instrumental in establishing and leading Gastroenterology departments across major hospitals, including Rajasthan Hospitals, SAL Hospital, Sterling Hospital, HCG Medisurge, Thakershy Hospital, and Pukhraj Raichand General Hospital. Through his efforts, he has expanded hospital services to benefit patients from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, who previously had to travel to Mumbai or Delhi for specialized care.
Dr. Bhatnagar is the founder of ICON Hospital, the first tertiary GI hospital in Gujarat, established over a decade ago, reflecting his commitment to advancing gastrointestinal healthcare in the region.
He has received numerous accolades for his contributions, including the Ahmedabad Asset Award by ONGC (2016), Times of India Health Icon Award in Hepatology and Gastroenterology (2018 & 2019), Golden AIM Award for Leadership in Healthcare – Gastroenterology (2024), Most Loved Creator Award on Medflix (2023 & 2024), and the Most Trusted Gastroenterologist Award by Dynergic Solutions (2025). Recognized by the Forttuna Global Awards as the Healthcare Education Leader (2025), he has also been honored with the Fellow of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (FISG) and Fellow of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (FSGEI) in 2024, and the Bharat Gaurav Puruskar for Excellence in GI Endoscopy (2024).
An academic leader, Dr. Bhatnagar serves as the GI Section Editor for The Indian Practitioner (TIP) journal, has published 54 national and 12 international scientific articles, and delivered over 400 presentations at state, national, and international conferences as invited faculty and preceptor. He performed the first Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) in Western India and is the founder of The Gut Club, Gujarat, and The Ahmedabad Gastro Forum (1998).
